- Description
310/310S is a high performance material in the stainless steel series,310 has excellent high temperature resistance,it can remain stable in extremely high temperature environments, has strong oxidation resistance, and is often used in high temperature furnace components,burners,etc.310S is an improved version of 310,which reduces the resistance to intergranular corrosion. It is especially suitable for welding applications such as chemical equipment, heat exchangers, etc. Both of them have good corrosion resistance and cam be used for a long time in a variety of harsh environments. They are indispensable high quality materials in industrial manufacturing.
- 310/310S VS 201
Both 310 and 310S stainless steel are high performance heat-resistant steels, but each has its own characteristics.310 has higher levels of chromium and nickel,it has excellent oxidation resistance and high temperature resistance,it also can remain stable in extremely high temperature environments, and it is suitable for high temperature furnace parts and burners, etc. However, its higher carbon content may cause intergranular corrosion problems, especially after welding.
In contrast,310S is a low-carbon version of 310 with carbon content reduced to below 0.08%,which significantly improves the resistance to intergranular corrosion and is particularly suitable for welding applications such as chemical equipment and heat exchanges. Both of them have strong corrosion resistance, but 310S has better corrosion resistance and stability after welding. If the application scenario involves a lot of welding,310S is better choice,if the main concern is high temperature performance and less welding,310 can also do the job.

- Features
Excellent Machinability
→ Both 310 and 310S are austenitic stainless steels with good machinability, suitable for various machining processes like CNC turning and milling. However, their higher nickel and chromium content compared to free-machining steels may result in slightly higher tool wear.
→ These grades are ideal for applications requiring high precision and surface finish, such as manufacturing components for high-temperature equipment and chemical processing machinery.
→ The low carbon content of 310S further enhances its machinability by reducing the risk of work hardening and improving surface integrity during machining.
