O1 steel is a kind of low-alloy cold work tool steel known for its excellent machinability and good wear resistance. Composed of Cr, Mn, and W, the cost is relatively low while offering good wear performance. The maximum hardness of O1 steel can reach 66 HRC, though it is typically hardened to 61-63 HRC. It is commonly used to manufacture cutting tools, woodworking tools, and blades. The high content of W element and Cr significantly enhances its wear resistance.
